What Would a Judge Say?

What Would a Judge Say? is a judge-led opinion service for family finances in England and Wales. Working with Paradigm Family Law and a panel of barristers and sitting judges, it provides an independent written opinion on how a court would be likely to divide a couple’s finances - within six weeks, for a published fixed fee, without going to court. Its free assessment platform, SmartJudge, helps people understand their situation first. What Would a Judge Say? is operated by WHATWOULDAJUDGESAY LTD and is not a law firm.

SmartJudge - one line

SmartJudge is a free tool that shows separating couples in England and Wales how a court would be likely to divide their finances.

SmartJudge - short (about 40 words)

SmartJudge is a free online tool for separating couples in England and Wales. It assesses their finances against the factors a judge must weigh by law, and returns a plain-English report setting out the likely range of outcomes, in about a minute.

SmartJudge - full (about 115 words)

SmartJudge is a free online tool that shows separating couples in England and Wales how a court would be likely to divide their finances. Unlike a general-purpose chatbot, every assessment is anchored to section 25 of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973, the law a court actually applies, and to a vetted summary of the leading England and Wales authorities, with a citation guardrail that checks each case against a trusted list before it can appear in a report. Users answer questions about their finances rather than their identity: no name, address or contact details are required, and the full report is free with no follow-up marketing. SmartJudge is not a law firm and does not give legal advice.

The same wording, with logos, screenshots, a full sample report and answers to common journalist questions, is maintained at smartjudge.ai/press-pack.
