Mediation often stalls before it starts, because the couple cannot agree on the numbers. SmartJudge gives each of them a free, well-informed starting point: a plain-English report on how a court in England & Wales would be likely to approach dividing their money and property, grounded in real case law.

This means they arrive at their first session with realistic expectations, rather than two starting positions shaped by whatever each of them has read online. You spend the time on the compromise, not on arguing about the baseline.

Before the MIAM

Each of them runs SmartJudge on their own, for £0. No card details, no solicitor to meet first, and they do not need to share their name.

The same framework for both

Both reports apply the Section 25 factors a judge uses to the figures each person enters. Where their numbers differ, you can see exactly where the disagreement is.

When mediation gets stuck

A written opinion from a barrister (£1,800) or a sitting judge (£3,600) on how a court would be likely to divide the assets, guaranteed within six weeks or the fee is refunded.
